If the land is well, if the sea is well, the people will thrive. The opportunity awaits… Join our dynamic team as a Compliance Monitoring Officer, where you'll play a crucial role in ensuring environmental regulations are upheld.
You'll be responsible for preparing and implementing monitoring programs for resource consents and regional rules, with a focus on coastal marine activities such as boatyards and port operations.
Your duties will include site inspections, sample collection, measurements, recording, reporting, and enforcing non-compliance.
In addition to monitoring, you'll respond to environmental incidents, conducting inspections and investigations, and taking necessary samples and measurements.
You'll also be part of the Council's 24/7 Environmental Hotline roster, ready to respond to incidents at any time.

Do you have what it takes? We are looking for someone who can bring the following to our diverse talent pool:
A tertiary qualification relevant to the purpose of the position (i.e.
a science-based discipline).Proficiency in the use of Microsoft systems e.g.
Word, Excel, Outlook.Confident with public speaking and representing Council in working groups or other forums.Proficient in the use of databases.Sound knowledge of regional council Resource Management Act monitoring functions.Previous experience in the implementation of environmental monitoring programmes or in Coastal Science.Special technical knowledge and experience in working with the Resource Management Act 1991.We understand that sometimes the right person doesn't 'tick all the boxes'.
