This role is based in Gisborne, and we offer relocation assistance for those moving to the area.
You'll recognise the importance of the role as a Treaty partner and understand how that underpins Gisborne District Council's work.
Key Responsibilities Provide expert advice on all aspects of plan-making processes under the Resource Management Act 1991.
Oversee the development and review of Council plans and policies prepared under the Resource Management Act.
Lead and manage large and complex resource management plan-making projects with a focus on reviewing the Tairawhiti Resource Management Plan.
Oversee the preparation of documentation and evidence for Environment Court processes.
Prepare specialist advice and technical reports on all resource management planning and policy matters.
Represent Council on or facilitate appropriate attendance for national and regional working parties/groups for the advancement of planning.
Consult and engage with the community in a timely and meaningful way.
Coach, mentor, support and enable staff to achieve outcomes, and grow and develop in their roles.
Minimum Requirements 5+ years resource management plan-making experience.
Tertiary qualification in Environmental Management, Environmental and City Planning, or another relevant field.
Strong leadership and management skills.
Extensive knowledge of resource management plans and policy development and implementation processes in a public sector context.
Ability to present information (complex and technical) to Council, Iwi and to other stakeholders of Council in a variety of settings including public forums.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively establish and build on internal and external working relationships.
Sound interpretive, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritise, be organised and work on multiple projects.
