Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our team at the Christchurch City Council. As a key member of our Digital function, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of our services to the community.

About the Role

In this exciting opportunity, you will be responsible for planning, configuring, deploying, and supporting all aspects of our Data Network environment. You will work closely with our Technology & Support Services team to ensure that service and availability targets are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, configure, deploy, and support all aspects of our Data Network environment
  • Work closely with our Technology & Support Services team to ensure service and availability targets are met
  • Deliver project outcomes to the Council
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to continuous process improvements

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Previous experience as a Senior Network Engineer
  • A tertiary qualification based on IT or a similar technical discipline
  • Extensive years' plus experience in layer 2 and layer 3 networking, including Enterprise WiFi networks
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of Cybersecurity, and have worked with multiple firewall vendors' products
  • An ability to stand back from the day-to-day work at times, for example, be involved in network monitoring and management, capacity planning, and making sure service levels are always met
  • Deep Cisco IOS knowledge and good familiarity with other vendors' toolsets such as packet-level analyser tools, network management platforms, and network asset management tools
