As an Education Tutor you will support prison-based learners to become better prepared for employment and further education.
You will focus on supporting learners to engage in a variety of secure online education websites to help improve their skills, knowledge, and transition into further study and/or employment post release.
We are looking for someone to join our team on a 30hr per week basis.
You will also be supporting a variety of education programmes and activities offered to the women we manage.
You will play a significant role in encouraging learners to improve their literacy and numeracy skills, work towards achieving New Zealand qualifications and to acquire job search skills.
This position is based within our custodial environment thus it is imperative that you can effectively lead by example and maintain professional boundaries.
By interacting closely with key stakeholders, both internal and external, you will be collaborative in sharing information and ensuring outcomes beneficial to the successful rehabilitation of the wahine in our care.Experience assessing and working with young people and adults who have not previously experienced education successFamiliarity with e-learning environments and supporting learners to use themA good understanding of assessing learning needs and developing individual learning pathway plans.Previously worked in a Kaupapa Maori or Pasifika environmentA tertiary qualification and/or a qualification in Adult EducationExperience working with offenders in a prison environment (not essential)Demonstrated competency in using computer applications including Microsoft Office suite, TEC Literacy and Numeracy Adult Assessment ToolsSound knowledge of the New Zealand Qualifications FrameworkExperience with embedding literacy and numeracyExperience successfully engaging Maori, Pasifika, and at-risk youth in educationA full NZ Drive LicenceExceptional communication and organisational skills with the ability to influence, inspire and motivateThe salary for this vacancy ranges from $75,341 - $83,643 pro rata.The successful applicant's starting salary will be determined by their qualifications, career history and frontline correctional experience.
