Hot Strip Mill OperatorNew Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of flat rolled steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing, and agricultural sectors. You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL brand.
We have a permanent opportunity for an enthusiastic, safety-conscious, and reliable operator to join the NZ Steel Hot Strip Mill Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to be trained into a role where you can expand your knowledge and learn new skills.
What you will be doing While reporting to the shift supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining our exceptional product standards and the continued smooth running of our operations. This is a permanent full-time position.
The successful applicant will undergo full training to safely operate the plant and equipment within the Hot Mill area.
The normal working hours for this position are 42 hours per week (12 hour / 4 shift rotating pattern); however, to ensure that operational requirements are met, you may be required to work additional hours when needed.
What you will bring to the role Along with the ability to learn the required skills on the job and produce high-quality work in a timely manner, the successful applicant will have:
A willingness to undertake manual handling workExcellent communication skills – both verbal and writtenAnalytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsA positive attitude, ability, and willingness to take ownership of your workProven good attendance and work historyExperience operating forklifts and/or cranes would be an advantageYou will need to demonstrate a commitment to teamwork along with a willingness to positively contribute to a diverse and inclusive work environment, with an uncompromising attitude towards health and safety.
