We partner with akonga and kaimahi (staff) to create an inclusive, equitable, and barrier-free environment.First Point of Contact: As an Access Coordinator, you will be the initial touchpoint for akonga, providing essential guidance and advice on available support and resources, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported from the start.Promoting Inclusivity: Your role is crucial in fostering an inclusive environment by supporting disabled, neurodivergent, Deaf, and akonga with mental health conditions, helping them navigate the tertiary education landscape, particularly with alternative exam arrangements.Empowering akonga: By believing in and nurturing the unique and diverse gifts each learner brings to Unitec, you will play a key role in their academic and personal success, contributing to a positive and enriching learning experience.The Access Coordinator role is central to delivering a responsive and effective service at Unitec.
We are looking for individuals who have personal experience of disability, identify as disabled or neurodivergent, or have experience working in the Health & Disability sector.
This role requires a unique blend of skills and experience to support our diverse akonga (learners) and create an inclusive, barrier-free environment.You'll have:Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and maintain a high level of organization.Highly proficient attention to detail, be task oriented and able to adapt quickly.Ability to remain calm and provide reassurance in pressured and emotionally charged situations.Proven experience in a busy coordination or administrative role, ideally within the health and disability or education sectors.Excellent communication skills to interact effectively and empathically with akonga, kaimahi, and external stakeholders.Competence in using various IT systems and tools to support administrative tasks and service delivery.An understanding or desire to learn te reo Maori, tikanga Maori, and the values and practices of kaupapa Maori.Evidence of active engagement in building diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces/environments.Tono mai: How to ApplyTo be considered for this position, applicants must be a NZ Citizen or NZ Permanent Resident.Apply now including your CV and cover letter outlining why you are interested and how you meet the requirements for the role.
