Nga korero mo te turanga - About the roleWe have an exciting role managing the Tauranga accommodation facilities for an individual who is energetic, innovative and self-motivated with the ability to lead a dedicated team of residential leaders, housekeepers and administrative staff in the delivery of a vibrant and cohesive halls of residence experience.This is a varied role with a new cohort of students arriving at the beginning of each year, a majority of whom will be leaving home for the first time.
Your role is to ensure they experience student life in a safe environment and build friendships to last a lifetime.You will be responsible for creating and managing a supportive student residential community that upholds a high level of pastoral care provision, maintains a safe and secure living environment, and provides support and advice that encourages academic success and the development of life skills.This role is primarily designed as a 'live in' position and the successful applicant will reside in the Residential Life Manager's one-bedroom unit sited on the Selwyn Street accommodation site - as the role involves regular evening and weekend work.
The University will, however, consider applications from suitable individuals residing locally in Tauranga.The salary will be based on the skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position.
This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week), based on our Tauranga Campus.Ko wai koe?
- Who are you?If you are looking for your next challenge and are a people person passionate about supporting students in adjusting to student life, then we would love to hear from you.To be successful in this new and exciting position you will have the following:Experience managing a staff team.Experience working in a welfare or support role.Ability to mediate and manage challenging situations with students.Experience in organizing events and group activities.Experience working with different ethnic groups and with young people.An understanding of the needs of university students (including international students) living away from home for the first time.Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.A relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated work experience to an equivalent level.It is important that you have the ability to build a great residential community culture and ensure the students have an amazing yet safe experience living in the Tauranga University accommodation.We strongly encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply.

The Selwyn Street Studios were purpose-built in 2022 and provide 91 fully-furnished studio rooms spread across three floors.
