Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Coding Educator with a strong background in in-patient coding to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of experience in facility and/or professional fee coding and be passionate about educating and guiding coding teams to maintain high standards of accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities: Provide in depth coding education and training to clinical and coding staff, focusing on in patient coding standards, guidelines, and procedures.Offer support and expertise in resolving complex coding issues, ensuring accurate code assignment in accordance with the latest coding guidelines and regulations.Develop and maintain educational materials, training programs, and resources for coding staff and other healthcare professionals.Perform regular audits of clinical documentation and coding to ensure compliance with federal regulations, payer requirements, and industry best practices.Collaborate with clinical departments, compliance teams, and coding staff to address and resolve coding discrepancies.Assist in the development and implementation of coding policies and procedures to enhance consistency and efficiency in coding practices.Conduct one-on-one or group training sessions for new hires or existing staff members on coding best practices, system updates, and industry changes.Stay updated on changes to coding systems, regulations, and reimbursement policies (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).Assist in the preparation for external audits or certifications, ensuring coding is in compliance with healthcare regulations.Provide ongoing support to coding staff, answering questions, and offering feedback to improve their coding performance.Monitor coding productivity and accuracy, providing feedback and coaching where necessary.Required Qualifications: A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in in-patient and/or professional fee coding.Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) designation preferred.Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.Experience with coding compliance, billing, and reimbursement processes.Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software.Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex coding information in an understandable manner.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a healthcare environment.Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in a coding educator or trainer role.Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and private payer billing practices.Ability to stay abreast of changes in healthcare coding, regulations, and technology.Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods of time.Ability to use a computer and other office equipment.Working Conditions:
Full-time, REMOTE
Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours
Type: Full Time Direct hire with full benefits
