**Job Overview:**

We are seeking a skilled Coding Specialist with 2-5 years of outpatient coding experience to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have experience coding for acute care facility outpatient services and/or Trauma Level II cases, although this is preferred.

This position is responsible for ensuring accurate coding of outpatient encounters in accordance with all applicable guidelines and regulations.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for outpatient services, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and payer guidelines.
  • Code outpatient encounters, including diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical services across a range of specialties.
  • Review clinical documentation and collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure appropriate coding and documentation accuracy.
  • Assist in identifying and correcting any discrepancies in coding to facilitate timely reimbursement and avoid compliance issues.
  • Stay up to date with changes in coding guidelines, payer requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Perform coding audits and reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with billing teams to resolve coding-related issues and ensure accurate billing and reimbursement.
  • Provide support to other departments and staff as needed to ensure accurate coding and compliance.
  • Participate in training or educational programs to stay current with changes in outpatient coding practices.

**Required Qualifications:**

  • A minimum of 2-5 years of outpatient coding experience.
  • Experience in outpatient coding for acute care facilities and/or Trauma Level II cases preferred.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Certification as a Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately code complex outpatient cases.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with clinical and billing teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
