Professional Practice Fellow - Women's and Children's Health - 2401931___________PAEDIATRICS AND CHILD HEALTHDEPARTMENT OF WOMEN'S AND CHILDREN'S HEALTHDUNEDIN SCHOOL OF MEDICINEThe Paediatrics and Child Health Section is part of the Department of Women's and Children's Health and one of three paediatric departments within the University of Otago, the other two being in Christchurch and Wellington.The role/Te mahiIn this Dunedin based role, we are seeking a qualified healthcare professional who would enhance and promote learning opportunities for medical students in child health.Professional Practice Fellows extend the learning role of medical students in secondary care and in the community by developing and running teaching opportunities including clinics in association with the supervising academic staff member.This role will provide teaching and co-ordination of clinical skills teaching to medical students in relevant areas.Successful candidates will have:A healthcare professional qualification (several years' experience) e.g.
Nursing, medical or similar.Experience in child health.Aptitude for effective teaching at tertiary level.Must be able to take initiative and work independently but being always mindful of goals of the Department.Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work positively and productively with children and parents of children with ongoing health needs.Be culturally competent and have an understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and a commitment to equity within medical education and the wider health system.Evidence of an ability to work well with students and staff from differing academic and cultural backgrounds at all levels of the institution.This is a part-time (0.5 FTE), permanent position based in Dunedin available from February 2025.The salary range for this role is $70,692 to $96,058 on a pro-rata basis.
The successful candidate will be appointed to an appropriate step on the Teaching & Professional Practice Fellow salary scale based on skills, experience and qualifications.The University of Otago is a workplace that values and utilises diverse and inclusive thinking, people and behaviours.
