Community Development (Community Services & Development)Full timeThe Community Research Facilitator role plays a crucial part in our organization's commitment to advancing biomedical research, particularly within an Infectious Disease Carriage Study. This position emphasizes a kaupapa Maori approach, actively engaging with the community and fostering meaningful connections between scientists and partner organisations.Key Responsibilities:Plan and facilitate hui within the community.Develop accessible educational resources tailored for whanau, ensuring clear communication of relevant information to target audiences.Engage directly with whanau in the community, collecting swabs and ensuring their secure storage and transport to laboratories.Participate in events that connect the community with biomedical science, such as conferences and collaborative training sessions with research partners.Organise student visits to universities and laboratories to promote engagement and education.Travel across the Far North for health promotion and project delivery.Qualifications and Skills:Full driver's license.Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of health sciences (Qualifications recommended).Strong understanding of kaupapa Maori principles and community engagement.Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to build rapport and relate effectively to a diverse range of whanau members.Confidence and good understanding of Te Reo Maori and tikanga Maori.Competency with administrative platforms.Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with the community, Maori health providers, and research partners.Skills and ability to develop educational resources that clearly communicate relevant information to target audiences.Competent in data entry and management.Understanding of research protocols and ethics.Ability to manage external relationships.Good time management and event planning skills.Ability to work independently and self-manage tasks when required.How do your skills match this job?Sign in and update your profile to get insights.Your application will include the following questions:Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in New Zealand?How many years' experience do you have as a Community Engagement Facilitator?Do you have a current Police Check (Criminal Record Check) for employment?Do you have a current New Zealand driver's licence?Do you own or have regular access to a car?To help fast track investigation, please include here any other relevant details that prompted you to report this job ad as fraudulent / misleading / discriminatory.
