Students achieve exceptional NCEA results at a level comparable with the highest performing NZ schools and excel in sports, music, arts and cultural endeavours, and outdoor education. The school, which has an Anglican tradition, was founded by the legacy of benefactor James Dilworth in 1906 and has grown to be the largest boarding school in Australasia. The school is funded by an endowment which is administered by the Dilworth Trust Board, a significant owner of commercial and industrial property in New Zealand. Dilworth school provides a safe and inclusive environment and has gone through an extensive period of change over the last four years. In 2022 the school was awarded Child Wise Accreditation, the only school in Aotearoa, New Zealand to have achieved this level of Child Safeguarding. Dilworth's scholarship is the gift of opportunity for young men who want to get ahead in life and be the very best they can be. The Senior Campus (years 9-13) in Epsom is seeking to fill part-time, fixed-term positions as House Assistants based in the boarding houses. This will suit a candidate who is keen to work with young people, contribute to the efficient operation of a boarding house, enjoys coaching or managing a sports team and being part of a supportive community focused on student wellbeing. Why do we want you? You will understand the importance of well-being in the support of young people, and that part of achieving this is contributing to a warm and welcoming living environment. You will be comfortable guiding and at times directing young people and working collaboratively in a team environment. You understand the importance of structure and routine and are willing to help with the everyday challenges young people face. You will also bring an interest in sport and/or cultural activities and are therefore able to support students in these pursuits. Why would you want us? You will be providing daily support to young people, encouraging, supporting and coaching. You will be part of the wider boarding team where you are encouraged to work collaboratively and share challenges and ideas. You will also be provided with ongoing training and development.
