Mo te turanga | About the role The Community Outreach Worker is responsible for connecting with the homeless community throughout the Northwest region. The Outreach Worker will build relationships with homeless individuals not yet engaged with Visionwest services and connect them to appropriate resources. The role also includes fostering partnerships with external organisations that share similar goals for the homeless community and coordinating efforts when necessary. While most of the work will be community-based, the role requires frequent office time for accurate record-keeping, reporting, and administrative tasks.
You will have good networking skills and existing relationships with a wide range of agencies within the Auckland area, for example MSD, local churches, CAB's, Probation and Auckland City Council. You will have strong interpersonal skill and the ability to effectively de escalate tense situations.
Skills and experience we are looking for include: Demonstrated experience in community outreach, social work, or working with vulnerable populations, especially the homeless.Knowledgeable about Te Tiriti o Waitangi, with a demonstrated ability to incorporate Te Ao Maori perspectives into their work.Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, with a focus on cultural humility and responsiveness.Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with a wide range of people.A solutions-focused approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.A full driver's license and the ability to travel within the Auckland region.He aha tau e whiwhi ai? | What's in it for you?
