Chief Advisors - Royal Commission of Inquiry (COVID-19 Lessons Phase 2) About us The purpose of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (COVID-19 Lessons) is to strengthen New Zealand's preparedness for, and response to, any future pandemic by identifying the lessons learned from New Zealand's response to COVID-19. The Government has established Phase Two of the Inquiry to provide further recommendations on actions that will strengthen New Zealand's pandemic preparedness.
The Department of Internal Affairs provides administrative assistance, where needed, to the Inquiry.
About the opportunity As a Chief Advisor you will:
Provide deep expert evaluative thinking, thought leadership, evidence-informed analysis and strategic advice to support Commissioners in delivering on the terms of reference of the Royal Commission.Play a lead role in the gathering, review and analysis of reports, investigative outputs, data, research and other material relevant to the terms of reference.Help to provide intellectual and thought leadership to other Inquiry team members.Play a pivotal role in shaping and quality assuring a robust and coherent work programme, providing heft, momentum and rigor in the delivery of the final report.About you To be successful in this role you will need:
Significant experience in leading the provision of high-quality analysis and advice and effectively applying the outcomes of research and evaluation.Exceptional ability to identify and effectively mitigate risks and consistently use sound judgement on controversial or critical issues using the best evidence available.Proven experience in leading and coaching other contributors on complex and time critical projects.Exceptional knowledge of government and policy processes.Structured work practices with the ability to operate effectively in a programme management environment.Exceptional written and oral communication skills.Excellent relationship skills and the ability to work at all levels of organisations and communities.A post-graduate qualification in a relevant field (e.g. public policy, economics, epidemiology, education, health and disability, institutional and legal arrangements and practice), or equivalent knowledge, skill and experience is essential.Applications close: 5pm, 1 December 2024
