We're at a pivotal point, transitioning from academic research to commercialization, and we're seeking a passionate CNC Machinist - Intermediate to join our teamIn this role, you will support the R&D team to provide technical assistance, as required, in the projects and subprojects within the R&D plan to take Engender Technologies through the next stage of product and business development, up to the commercialization stage.Engender's machinist will actively participate in precision machining of existing components and/or fabrication of new components to support the development of cutting-edge instrumentation for microfluidic cell sorting on time and on budget.
They will be responsible for:Fabrication and production of key components for Engender's sorting platform to specification;Responsible for some programming and setting up, running and maintenance of CNC mill;Contributing to the ongoing optimisation and improvement of Engender's microfabrication processes;Assembly drawing preparation for manufacturing including version control and documentation of the designs and fabrication methods for key components of Engender's sperm sorting platform;Support analysis and presentation of results to the R&D team to inform progress and decision making;Actively participate in wider discussions that contribute to Engender's fabrication techniques and sub-system design;Inspection and maintenance of machinery, performing routine machinery repairs within their expertise;Fostering a positive culture that reflects Engender's values, including adherence to all Health & Safety policies and procedures.RequirementsWe're looking for someone who:Is a qualified CNC Machinist with 3-5 years of relevant machining experience: New Zealand Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Trade) (Level 4) with strands in Fitting and Machining, Machining and Toolmaking (or equivalent qualification).Can plan, sequence, and machine complex engineering components using manual and Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machines to achieve a high degree of tolerance and finish, efficiently and effectively by using current and relevant machining technologies and techniques that include the use of specialized tooling and measuring equipment, to meet required specifications.Is able to set up and operate a VMC CNC unsupervised and reliably e.g.
HAAS CM-1 (preferred).Has experience with micromachining of common plastics (preferred).Can deliver a basic to intermediate level of mechanical design using a common CAD/CAM software such as: Fusion 360 (preferred)/ Solidworks/Gibbscam/Solidcam.Can read, generate and interpret mechanical design drawings.Is familiar with common machining tools (e.g.
