We work collaboratively with iwi, Government, not-for-profits and businesses to achieve outcomes that benefit our community.Te aheinga - The opportunityPuke Ariki Libraries are part of the Cultural Experiences group at NPDC, under the General Manager Te Tiriti Partnerships, which includes the Libraries, Museum and Govett Brewster and Len Lye Gallery. Due to the retirement of the incumbent, we are looking for a Lead for the Puke Ariki Central Library who can contribute to the Library Leadership team, the strategic direction of library services and lead quality customer services across our libraries.This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the new direction our libraries and the Cultural Experiences group will be taking over the next few years as we work collaboratively across our sector to deliver exceptional services to customers.We are looking for a strong people leader, with a vision for and expertise in Library customer services in Public Libraries, the importance of literacies for the community and experience in managing current challenges.Lead a large team of Librarians ensuring excellent internal communications, teamwork and a positive workplace cultureManage delivery of best practice library services and KPIsProvide an informed ambition for library services and contribute to library strategic direction and planningLead the direction of services to adults, children and youth and all sectors of the communityBe accountable for capital and operational budget managementEnsure the team contribute to the development and delivery of appropriate programming and events across the libraries and collaborate with the Cultural Experiences Public Programs teamCollaborate with colleagues across the Cultural Experience Group including the customer service teams in the Gallery and MuseumSupport the work of the Senior Te Ao Maori Librarian to ensure Matauranga Maori and Te Ao Maori concepts are applied across our LibrariesEnsure Health, Safety and Wellbeing responsibilities are embedded in daily operationsFive plus years' experience leading a team in the Library and Information field, with a particular focus on customer services in Public LibrariesTertiary qualification in Library and Information Science or a relevant qualificationDemonstrated experience leading a team and creating a positive team cultureExperience, knowledge and expertise of services to adults, children and youthHe aha ai a Taranaki? - Why Taranaki?With the stunning Mt Taranaki as a backdrop and the warm iron sands along our coast, it is no wonder Taranaki is one of the best regions in New Zealand and the world.
