We are looking for a dynamic children’s Librarian to join the Puke Ariki team as a permanent part-time team member. You will be a team player who can contribute to the development and delivery of regular library programmes, including school holiday programmes. You will use your enthusiasm and passion to enhance literacy development and a lifelong love of reading within children and teens. The role will be mainly based at Puke Ariki Library on the ‘Discover It’ floor. This role will include working across Puke Ariki Library and the other NPDC Libraries on occasion.

We are looking for someone that has a genuine interest in public library service. To be successful in this role, you will have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, experience in customer service and the ability to manage a diverse range of tasks.

**In this role you will**:
Connect children and their whanau with Library services and programmes.
Undertake customer service enquiries.
Maintain the library collection and provide readers’ advisory for parents and children.
Assist with the preparation and delivery of regular programmes and one-off events.

Knowledge and understanding of early childhood literacy development and resources.
Effective digital literacy skills.
Experience in a customer service environment.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Suite of Applications, 365 and internet technologies, including social media.
A full driver’s license and the willingness to drive work cars.
General knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety principles.
A library qualification would be an advantage but is not required.

This is a permanent part-time role.

The hours of work for this role are 28 hours per week and includes rostered weekend and evening work.
