Wildlands are seeking full-time fixed-term Ecological Restoration Team Members for our Auckland branch. This role is to work in small field teams to control pest plants, with some pest animal control and planting work from time to time. You could be based at either Albany, Grey Lynn, or Wiri, as appropriate.

We are looking for team members with a range of experience, through to experienced team leaders. Pest plant identification skills and knowledge of control methods is preferred. It is essential that you are able to work effectively in a team environment. The work requires staff to use agrichemicals (herbicides), and possibly vertebrate toxins (poisons) and traps.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  1. A genuine interest in working in the outdoors and achieving restoration goals.
  2. Knowledge and experience of pest plant control, pest animal monitoring and control, and indigenous planting.
  3. A positive, can-do attitude.
  4. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  6. Ability to work independently and within a team.
  7. A good work ethic, efficient and H&S conscious.
  8. GPS use and other hand-held devices (e.g., phone, camera).
  9. A good level of fitness, preferably with outdoor skills (tramping, hunting, etc).
  10. Full NZ drivers’ licence (manual).

Preferred applicants will hold CURRENT relevant qualifications and experience. These include Growsafe (Standard or Registered Chemical Applicator) and First Aid. A full driver’s licence for manual vehicles is preferred.

If you have appropriate restoration field-team leadership and mentoring skills, then we also want to hear from you, with details of your skills and experience.
