Auckland, New Zealand Auckland Airport Full time

Auckland Airport – Auckland airport, North Island

Are you a passionate problem-solver with a deep understanding of pipelines and aviation fuel management? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments where no two days are ever the same? If so, we want to hear from you

As our new Aviation Fuel Pipeline Manager, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of Auckland Airport's jet fuel distribution assets. With a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of pipeline operations, you'll work closely with cross-functional teams to drive business growth, improve operational excellence, and reduce risks.

You’ll lead our aviation fuel distribution assets and services, driving operational excellence, long-term resilience, and capacity for business growth.

About the role

As the business leader for all matters concerning the asset, you’ll provide credible leadership and develop compelling cases for significant investments in asset upgrades or replacements. You’ll collaborate with the Strategic Planning & project teams to analyse and interpret aviation activity forecasts and their implications for aviation fuel demand, ensuring alignment with our organisational goals.

You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders, including teams from the Infrastructure Team, Operations Team, Risk and Assurance Team, Strategy, Performance and Planning Team, Customer Team, Commercial Team, Finance Team, Directors, and the Leadership Team.

You’ll develop business requirements, investment cases, and capital plans for asset upgrades, improvements or replacements to ensure operational excellence, long-term resilience, and capacity for business growth.

You’ll ensure compliance with regulatory requirements under the Health and Safety in Employment (Pipelines) Regulations 1999, maintain the five-yearly pipeline certificate of fitness and be responsible for reviewing and approving methods of work for construction or maintenance relating/adjacent to pipelines.

About you:

We’ve got a few things we’d need you to demonstrate for a role this big:

  • Strong technical knowledge of hydrocarbon distribution pipeline systems and safety regulations
  • Proven experience in managing pipeline operations and supervising health and safety aspects, with a deep understanding of upstream resilience risks to our aviation fuel distribution network assets and services
  • Excellent analytical skills, with ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including airlines, JUHI (joint user hydrant insulation), and fuel companies

What We Offer:

  • Make a real impact on our operations and contribute to our ongoing growth and development
  • Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a talented team of professionals
  • Develop your skills and expertise in safety regulations and business planning
  • Enjoy a competitive salary package, comprehensive benefits, and a supportive work environment

At Auckland Airport, we're a dynamic organisation committed to delivering exceptional customer service, operating efficiently, and investing in our people and facilities to ensure long-term success. Our values - Whiria te tangata (People First), All In, Know How, and Let's Go - guide our behavior and decision-making.
