If you're passionate about dogs, and would love to support people in the disability sector by training and placing a hearing dog with them, then this is the job for you To become a successful Hearing Dog Trainer – Placement Officer you must be keenly observant and interested in canine behaviour, enjoy working with people, be prepared to pitch in with the everyday tasks, have a large dose of self-motivation, some old-fashioned kiwi ingenuity, and a strong moral compass. Successful applicants are given full comprehensive training. We don't expect you to have experience in training hearing dogs, but we are looking for people with a positive attitude who are ready to learn and grow in the role. The work base is at our National Training Centre in New Plymouth and placements are throughout New Zealand. Therefore, the successful applicant will be expected to travel out of Taranaki for between 4 and 6 weeks per year. Work is from 10.30am – 5.30pm Monday through to Friday.
