The opportunity

This role will assist and support the National Health & Safety Manager in achieving our vision of being a sustainable business by delivering best practice work that is healthy and safe. This includes our contractors, suppliers or anyone visiting our sites or offices.

We are searching for an experienced H&S Business Partner who can work closely with our business leaders, staff and other H&S Business Partners and Advisors to provide H&S advice and support to the Business Units within a particular portfolio and really partner with the operational teams to apply the health and safety management system within their unit. You will also work closely with the senior leaders and operational teams within your business portfolio to further develop and implement health and safety tools, solutions and artefacts that support our business to achieve the following three goals:

  1. We understand the risks arising from the work we do, always include safety and health in our planning and design, and manage/monitor the risks of our work appropriately.
  2. We create a culture where everyone contributes to achieve our health and safety vision, and our people have effective processes, fit-for-purpose plant & equipment and the right development, training & information to be successful.
  3. We provide our people leaders with the tools and training to be responsible for our health and safety performance; engaging our people and actively promoting health and safety 'Our Way'.

You will be able to quickly build relationships at all levels of the organisation as well as managing stakeholders' expectations. You will have the ability to influence change and build on our safety culture, changing the dial on how we view health and safety. Ideally, you will have experience within the roading infrastructure or construction industry supporting a large and complex business.

This role may be based in Christchurch or Auckland, and travel to other regions will be expected.
