THE OPPORTUNITY

The Managing Director provides essential strategic and commercial direction to the New Zealand business and team. As a member of the global leadership team, the Managing Director will deliver on key strategic priorities of revenue and profitability results, optimisation of the supply chain and delivering 'best in industry' customer experiences across our clients 3 brands.

Importantly, the Managing Director will mentor, support, manage and lead the New Zealand team to ensure their people are operating in a productive, engaged, supported and dynamic business environment. The successful candidate will be focused on upholding BCorp and sustainability commitments, will be a purpose-driven leader that is well aligned to the vision and mission of the business.

With their strong sales and marketing background, the Managing Director will use their proven strategic and commercial acumen to drive growth, enter new markets, enhance existing operational processes and deliver global initiatives to the local New Zealand market in a successful and sustainable manner.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Company Performance and Compliance

  • Ensure the long-term financial viability of the NZ business by actively driving sales, seeking process and cost efficiencies and expanding into new markets when feasible.
  • Ensure the sales and business targets are achieved, and profit is protected via expenditure control within budgets.
  • Ensure all legislative, statutory and legal requirements are fulfilled and consistently monitored.

Strategy, Planning and Delivery

  • Oversee the NZ company's operations, effectively manage resources, and inspire our clients talented workforce to achieve operational and customer experience excellence.
  • Develop and implement the company's strategic plan and goals for NZ.
  • Oversee all operations and business activities across NZ to ensure the desired results are and overall strategic goals are being achieved.

Sales, Marketing and Customer Experience

  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans that identify and secure new opportunities for growth in the market. Focus on building further market share within the quick service restaurant and coffee roasters markets.
  • Maintain a positive net-promoter/customer engagement score and ensure the company is delivering first-class customer experiences.
  • Analyse market trends and the competitive landscape to identify viable growth opportunities that align with global and local strategic plans.
  • Optimisation of the sales and marketing strategies driving customer activity in multiple segments of the market.

People, Culture and Innovation

  • Lead and motivate a diverse team to foster a culture of collaboration, purpose, high-performance and engagement.
  • Bring a proactive, dynamic, innovative and purpose-driven approach to the Managing Director role and enable the business to become more agile and adaptable to change and future growth.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Importantly, the Managing Director will be a dynamic, strategic and adaptable leader that is committed to driving results, providing impactful leadership and shaping the future of the business in New Zealand. Essential to success in the role, the Managing Director will seek out opportunities for sales growth and market expansion.

To be effective in this role the person will need the following:

  • A proven and extensive track record in sales and/or marketing positions within similar or adjacent industries. Professional experience within a coffee roasting, QSR or distribution business would be preferrable.
  • Prior and demonstrated experience in a senior management or leadership position. Must have managed, supported, led and coached a multi-disciplinary team. Experience in a global matrix environment is beneficial.
  • Ideally, the successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of the target markets (quick service restaurants, café's, coffee roasters, hospitality etc.) and experience driving results within the local New Zealand market.
  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic agility to ensure the overall success and continued growth of the NZ business.
  • High levels of personal initiative to get things done autonomously. A hunger to think of new ways to approach projects, tasks, processes or objectives.
  • Ability to adapt to fast-paced and rapidly evolving industry whilst maintaining customer experience standards, quality control, staff engagement levels and commitment to BCorp and sustainability practices.
  • Applicable professional certifications or qualifications.
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally several times a year.
