About the Role Applied Biosecurity Solutions (ABS) are looking to expand our Auckland team and would like to hear from people who have a sound theoretical background in ecology or environmental studies, practical field experience with pest plant / pest animal management, and a proven competency in operating motorised plant and equipment.
This is a hands-on, and physical role, not a lab-based position and we expect this would suit someone who is physically active, loves being outdoors, likes being hands on and seeing the rewards of a hard days work.
The role will offer plenty of variety and you will need to bring a willingness to roll your sleeves up to work as a team along with a positive attitude. Expect to be challenged by learning new skills and taking on new projects as you progress your career in a rewarding industry. This role will see you expand your skills outside of your comfort zone.
This role is full time 40 hours per week Monday to Friday and is based out of Auckland. Our team does travel across NZ to carry out specific projects and some away nights are required.
Tasks and Responsibilities • Have a genuine interest in working in the outdoors and enjoy being part of, and an active contributor to a passionate team.
• Are health, safety and environmentally conscious.
• Are physically fit and committed to getting the job done with a smile.
• Have relevant field-based experience, preferably 2 years + (please note this is not a graduate role)
• Have obtained Grow Safe Registered Chemical Applicators certification a bonus
• Have a Full NZ Driver's license – preferably manual.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in botany, ecology, or relevant industry experience in revegetation planting
• Experience with motorised and non-motorised hand tools.
• Off road driving experience, 4x4 and / or Side by side.
• Experience in site preparation, planting and maintenance.
