Landscape Development Advisor

9 days ago, from Selwyn District Council
There is no such thing as a typical day in the life of a Council Landscape Development Advisor. Some days are spent out in the field completing hold-point inspections or meetings; other days will be spent inside approving resource consent applications and landscaping plans.
The key responsibility of this role is to ensure that works undertaken and assets being vested meet Council's expectations and the relevant legislation.
The Landscape Development Advisor is responsible for ensuring that the open spaces components of all developments meet the appropriate construction standards. We do this by:
Imposing landscaping conditions on resource consents
Approving all landscaping design plans
Managing the construction phase of developments and ensuring all vested landscaping asset installation meets expected standards
Reviewing all landscaping quality assurance documentation and issuing final acceptance of vested assets
Monitoring during the defects liability period
Approving the release of uncompleted works and maintenance bonds
Regularly reviewing the Engineering Code of Practice
Managing and growing strong working relationships with developers and contractors
Communicating with customers
About you
This role would suit someone down to earth, who likes a challenge and is prepared to go the extra mile to achieve a good outcome. The role would be well suited to someone who is happy being self-directed but is also comfortable working as part of a team. This role has so much room for growth and opportunity.
The successful applicant should tick most of the following:
Experience with landscaping designs and reports
Skilled in landscaping design/construction standards and specifications
Excellent relationship management skills with a variety of stakeholders (consultants, developers, customers, contractors)
Landscaping design and/or construction experience, ideally you have experience working with landscaping on Public Parks/Reserves, streetscapes, and stormwater management areas
Experience working with resource consents
Experience with document management and process documentation
You will be comfortable with changing dynamics and have the natural ability to roll with changes that occur in a dynamic environment
