Reporting to the Site Reliability Engineering Team Lead, this position is a specialist position with the purpose of delivering solutions for MBIE. This role will incorporate software engineering aspects to develop and implement services which improve workings across ICT and support teams. They may make changes based on alerts and metrics being delivered. They will mitigate any weaknesses identified in the solution and resolve cases raised.

Quality Engineering has a pivotal role to play as we move swiftly into becoming a Digital Agency, we are tasked with building quality checks and measures into our software and technical delivery. Our team is focused continually improving our ways of working and leveraging technology to drive this. This includes Cloud technology, automation, DevOps, and infrastructure as code.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills - able to communicate technical information to the understanding of a layperson
- Excellent interpersonal skills - able to influence and persuade, is comfortable championing processes across multiple user groups, adjusts style to needs of audience
- Sound relationship management skills - able to build and maintain effective working relationships
- Strong organisational skills - able to prioritise and effectively manage competing demands without any loss of quality or service
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Pre-requisites
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience
- Agile and DevOps delivery methodology/experience is desired
- Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand
Experience
- 7+ years’ experience in ICT development and build delivery including modern development practices using.NET Core, Microservices, Pipelines, and Azure Services.
- Demonstrated experience in automation of infrastructure, release engineering, and continuous delivery
- Experience with Plugins, Java Script, Web Services, Logic Apps, and Azure Functions.
- Experience using Azure DevOps and Azure KeyVault, Terraform, or similar is desirable
- Has demonstrated experience in working and integrating with SaaS products
- Demonstrated understanding and experience in modern development techniques
- A curious mind and a desire to learn about technical innovations and how they may be applied to the MBIE environment
- A willingness to learn skills in new technology in order to achieve a common goal
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to effectively present and point of view to a variety of audiences
- An analytical mind who can make connections between various aspects of the organisation and can contribute to a cohesive approach across all aspects of a technology-enabled business
- Ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and develop trust, credibility, buy-in and collaboration with managers, staff, vendors and other stakeholders
- Ability to work under pressure and with deadlines while taking ownership of a task and seeing it through.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise workload Technology Outcomes
- Build automated solutions, including infrastructure, to ensure the Integration platform is operational in line with business expectations.
- Resolve issues identified to ensure they do not reoccur
- Identify and mitigate any risk to the platform
- Create solutions for monitoring and responding to negative impact events
- Support and guide less experienced members of the wider team.
- Provide quality assurance across solutions and deliverables
- Produce detailed design documentation as required
- Engage and work alongside vendors to achieve a common outcome in the interests of MBIE
- Collaborate with external software vendors, product owners, lead architects and vendors to build out the capabilities on development and DevOps internally at MBIE
