**Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role**

The Senior Advisor, Operational Policy provides advice on implementing policy, from design through to implementation. They will help shape a senior secondary education system that delivers quality and equitable pathways for all learners, allowing them to transition successfully for a life of learning, earning, caring and contributing.

The Senior Advisor, Operational Policy will:

- Plan, manage, source and deliver high quality content and/or instructional or support materials themselves, when required.
- Be part of the team currently delivering the NCEA Review and Vocational Education in schools.

**Mōhou ake | About you**

To be successful in this role you will have experience and capability in strategic planning and implementation. You will also be apt in leading with influence and purpose to maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

You will also have the ability to design and deliver internal and external stakeholder engagements, both general and targeted, to generate valuable and usable insights and advice.

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.

You will also demonstrate:

- A good understanding of NCEA and the diversity of learners undertaking it.
- Ability to engage and communicate confidently and appropriately with a range of stakeholders from different cultures and backgrounds.
- High level communication capability.
- Write and develop content for a range of audiences across our web channels.
- Experience leading or supporting one or more projects concurrently.
- Manage your own workload of competing tasks and complex projects.
- Know when to involve others and seek advice when required.
- Project Management capabilities.
- Resilience and ability to deal with pressure in a mature way.

**Mātau rōpū ake | About our ministry, group, and team**

At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whanau.

Te Poutāhū delivers and maintains critical services to support responsive learner pathways from early childhood into further education, training, the workforce, and society. Te Poutāhū performs a crucial role working between the strategy and policy teams, and the sector facing functions.

The Secondary Tertiary team sits within the Te Poutāhū and covers the transition from senior secondary through to tertiary and employment. The Secondary Tertiary team is responsible for operational policy, curriculum and support programmes for Year 11-13 learners, and the secondary-tertiary interface. This includes senior secondary curriculum, NCEA (including implementing the NCEA Review changes through the Review of Achievement Standards) and secondary-tertiary programmes.
