We are looking for an exceptional senior advisor to join our team. In this role you will help lead the Ministry's approach to performance monitoring and ensure the entities for which MfE is responsible perform well and deliver against their objectives.
You will build great relationships internally and externally and help others to do the same. You'll be politically savvy, and a creative thinker and influencer with an ability to grasp multiple viewpoints. You understand Crown entity monitoring and are comfortable representing the Ministry and the range of issues we deal with.
Reporting to the Manager, Crown Entity Performance, you will work in a team comprising a Principal Advisor (focused on governance and appointments), one other Senior Advisor and an Advisor.
A key focus of this role will be leading the development and implementation of a high-quality and innovative framework for the monitoring of one of two Crown Entities we monitor (the Climate Change Commission or the Environmental Protection Authority).
You will provide strategic leadership on best practice approaches and processes to ensure high-quality analysis and advice, whilst mentoring others. You know what excellence looks like and can provide guidance on entity performance utilising your technical knowledge and experience.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
You have a reputation for excellence and delivery together with strong political nous. You will have:

- At least 3 years' experience in Crown entity monitoring with a strong focus on performance monitoring or in a policy role
- Proven experience in providing ownership, governance and performance advice or policy advice to Ministers
- Understanding of budget bid processes
- Excellent briefing writing skills and attention to detail
- Strong understanding of the machinery of government
- Exceptionally solution-focused with the ability to present ideas and propositions
- A talent for issues management and problem solving
- Excellent relationship management skills including at senior leadership and board level and internally within the Ministry
- An understanding of te ao Māori.

Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
Salary range for this role is $101,802 to $124,424 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
