Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunityOur team is looking for an HR Advisor or Senior HR Advisor to join us at Waka Kotahi. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop business partnering skills through the management of your own client portfolio - Transport Services. As well as supporting the usual cyclical activities on the human resources calendar, you will work closely with business leaders and your manager to design and develop solutions to support transformational change, leadership development and capability needs within their teams. We have a relatively new state-of-the-art HCM Tool, Puna Koi (Workday) which is supporting our organisation to become more sophisticated in our people processes. This, together with engagement tools (Peakon) and other analytic tools will enable the Business HR team to gain insights and make data-led recommendations to their business.In this role, you will play a vital part in shaping our human resources strategy and ensuring the smooth functioning of our HR department, including employee relations (ER) and industrial relations (IR).Ko koe tēnei | About youTo be successful in this role, you will bring:

- Sound knowledge of HR foundations including employment law and expertise in ideally the following: talent management, reward and remuneration, employee experience, employment relations, organisation design and development.
- Experience aligning HR strategies to business needs.
- Experience of championing change and leading change processes.
- Experience of partnering with People Leaders to build and develop their teams capability and performance.
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to coach, advise and negotiate effectively.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, or a willingness to gain knowledge of, Te Ao Māori, Tikanga Māori and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of, Te Tiriti o Waitangi as it applies in the public sector.
