We are searching for a pragmatic, experienced Category Manager to join our client in a role responsible for the development and execution of category strategies to achieve commercial and service aspirations of the business.

In this role you will be looking after large product categories and so previous experience of looking after portfolios between $50m - $100m is essential to be successful in the role. You may be working in or have previously worked in a role such as an Account Manager or National Account Manager.

Your typical day will involve a lot of the strategic side of building the category including decisions on the category plans and category range such as range reviews, market reviews, suppliers and competitor analysis & working with the marketing department to run promotions (discounting, adding value or digital content). You will also be in regular contact with account managers who are in the field making sales.

From time to time, you will be required to present to up to 200 people at conferences therefore, you will need to be confident in speaking to large groups of people.

You will be responsible for one direct report in this role, and in turn you will be supported by the Merchandise Manager who is open and hands on. This is a role where you will be empowered by a fantastic and seasoned manager, who will focus on all aspects of your role including long term development and wellbeing.

**Your key responsibilities will include**:

- Driving the development and execution on category strategies to achieve sales and profit targets
- Execute core category management disciplines ensuring product offers are performing
- Creating a customer centric culture
- Growing the performance and capability of the team

**In addition to the above you will have**:

- _Experience in category or product management_
- _Experience developing category strategies_
- _Experience leading supplier negotiations and procurement_
- _Tertiary qualification in Business, Marketing or similar field_
