**Starting salary**: $70,819 - $82,610 negotiable + superannuation

Te tūnga | The role
We are recruiting for two Statistical and Data Analyst roles across the Social and Population Insights (SPI) branch, in the Labour Market and the Income & Poverty Insights teams. Both roles are permanent and the teams are based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington).
As a Statistical and Data Analyst in the Labour Market team you'll be at the heart of New Zealand's labour market data. This role reports to the Kaiwhakahaere - Makete Mahi (Manager - Labour Market). You'll be responsible for the quarterly production of official labour market statistics from the Household Labour Force Survey. Your responsibilities will include a range of tasks involving the publication of our labour market statistics on employment, unemployment, and other labour market measures.
As a Statistical and Data Analyst in the Income & Poverty Insights team, you'll report to the Kaiwhakahaere - Kitenga Whiwhinga Moni, Rawakore hoki (Manager - Income & Poverty Insights). The team is responsible for the production of official statistics from the Household Economic Survey. The household income and housing-costs and child poverty statistical releases are published annually and provide insights about the economic wellbeing of households. They also allow the government to monitor their progress towards reducing child poverty, as required by the Child Poverty Reduction Act 2018.

- Proven data analysis and problem-solving capability,
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as you'll need to work across a range of stakeholders,
- Experience in working to tight deadlines, good time management skills, and ability to adapt and respond to new information,
- Familiarity with data analysis tools, such as R, SAS, SQL and Excel,
- Any experience in a similar role that included a large component of data analysis quality reassurance,
- Any information about your knowledge and experience, or desire to learn and build knowledge and experience of Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Reo and Te Ao Māori, and engagement with Māori.
