As our Principal Building Assurance Officer, you will be required to:

- help lead an effective and engaged team who deliver high quality Building Assurance services
- provide technical expertise and advice on matters relating to the Building Act 2004, New Zealand Building Code and other associated regulations
- investigate and provide input into any building related claims and disputes against council
- problem solve and effectively manage complex complaints in a customer focused approach
- oversee the quality and consistency of technical decisions
- contribute to developing and maintaining a technically capable team through mentoring and developing others.

You’ll need to show us that you:

- have a proven high level of technical building knowledge and significant work experience in building control
- have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to foster effective working relationships
- have experience mentoring and coaching others on a technical level and bring a positive approach to developing others
- are resilient with the ability to operate successfully and professionally in a high-pressure environment.
