Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role
The Senior Adviser, School Governance, Practice and Pathways, within the Te Pae Aronui group plays a crucial role in the strengthening of effective secondary transition pathways. The role will enable system-wide improvements to support learners to move through education to further education, training and employment.
The role has a particular focus on policy and operations and will support regions to improve achievement, retention, transitions and progression of young people across the secondary school, tertiary and employment interface and the development of sustainable networks and partnerships.
You will also develop and lead assigned portfolio areas. To be successful, you will need to be an excellent communicator, writer and analyst with proven skills in building and managing strong, effective relationships.

Mōhou ake | About you
You will have a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience and knowledge about the Machinery of Government and role of the Ministry.

**You will also offer**:

- Experience in providing high-level advice.
- Significant experience with managing programmes of work.
- An ability to negotiate with peers and those in senior roles to ensure the delivery of written material and responses to requests.
- High-level ability to write with clarity, present cogent arguments, and deliver messages across a range of formats.
- High-level analytical skills to define a problem, evaluate alternatives, find a solution, and make effective decisions.
- Advanced, relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience in responding to official correspondence including, OIAs, Education reports, Briefings etc.
- Education sector experience or the ability to develop understanding quickly.

Mātau rōpū ake | About our group and team
We use information, insights and service design functions to help the three Te Mahau frontline groups design and deliver services for our sector. We service and support the frontline groups and play an integration role between the enabling functions and our frontline services.
Our group provides nationally consistent service design, practice guidance and systems to support the integrated teams led by Directors of Education providing flexible and responsive services. We deliver national resourcing functions, including inclusive learning support, and national regulatory functions.
The School Governance, Practice and Pathways team, lead operational delivery for several schooling functions, including school governance, school regulatory and operational support, and the secondary tertiary interface. This role will focus on supporting the secondary-tertiary interface which is experiencing significant growth and change with many exciting initiatives in design and development.
