Principal Mechanical Engineer

Due to continuous growth, our Water team is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the leadership and management of design of projects such as large municipal wastewater & water treatment plants, commercial onsite treatment systems, community treatment plants, and industrial trade waste treatment systems. The role is to be based either in Auckland or Wellington. You will be joining a diverse team of consultants who are passionate about what they do, with a proven track record guiding our clients, and leading delivery of our State and Country's most critical projects.
Your precise duties and responsibilities will vary depending on your level of experience. Mott MacDonald offers a highly supportive and collaborative environment within which to further build your career and challenges you to achieve more. Your responsibilities can include:
- Developing water and wastewater infrastructure designs for clients
- Develop and maintain key client relationships
- Design management of water and wastewater infrastructure projects
- Project management and staff mentoring
- The successful applicant will have:
- 10+ years’ experience in working on water/wastewater/industrial treatment projects or other relevant industries
- Design management of complex mechanical plant or multi-discipline projects
- Detailed mechanical engineering design experience; of new and existing water and wastewater treatment plants
- A mechanical engineering degree
- Ideally a Chartered Engineer (or working towards Chartership)
- A proactive approach to design, whilst seeking innovation to drive value
- Proven client liaison and communication skills
- Great team working ethos both internally and collaboratively with our clients and supply chain
