About the Role You will provide leadership and direction to the pricing team in the setting of margins for pricing requests. This will be ideally across all trades, taking a variety of elements into consideration (market levels, industry specifics, customer requirements + price sensitivities).

**Responsibilities**:

- Maintain and strengthen carrier relationships
- Develop pricing strategies by taking the lead on pricing & RFQ
- Drive customer excellence by establishing processes and procedures to provide timely responses to rate requests within agreed timeframes
- Drive business growth through assisting with gaining new, retaining and further developing existing accounts
- Be involved and assist business owners for non-standard RFQ related requests.
- Seek out customer feedback to drive improvements.
- To act as a resource in problem solving and providing guidance for pricing staff, customer service and sales staff in relation to area of expertise and responsibility
- Maintaining excellent relationships with other internal departments and service providers including key suppliers.

Skills & Experience - 5+ years’ experience in Sea Logistics freight forwarding or shipping, and an extensive understanding of the New Zealand international forwarding market
- Extensive experience dealing with rates and/or costings in a similar position within a freight forwarder or shipping line
- Commercial & strategic acumen, with an ability to maximize profit, enable volume growth and think outside the box.
- Strong time management, being comfortable working towards tight deadlines and remaining calm under pressure. This includes juggling competing priorities and working in a fast pace environment.
- Proven success in building positive working relationships both internally and externally. This includes driving customer excellence and also having difficult conversations when required.
- Previous leadership experience is advantageous, however having the desire and passion to lead, motivate and positively influence a team is essential.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
