**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The Principal IR Specialist role is a key member of the IR team, shaping, undertaking, and resolving bargaining for assigned national MECAs within recommended and agreed parameters which reflect the organisation's strategy and government expectations. This role will also lead designated industrial relations policy areas, ensuring development of innovative policy and relevant consultation is undertaken with all relevant stakeholders to enable implementation.
**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- Significant demonstrated advocacy experience (in the range of 5 years) at a leadership level in collective employment agreement negotiations.
- Demonstrated strong technical Industrial Relations expertise along with the ability to assess complex IR issues and consider options, risks, benefits, mitigation strategies and make informed recommendations.
- Demonstrated experience in policy research, development, and production of innovative policy solutions to address complex IR issues.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster constructive stakeholder relationships through consultation and partnership; strong influencing skills, builds trust while maintaining confidentiality.
- Ability to model the concept of “good faith” in employment relationships at all levels of the organisation, and to demonstrate an ability to build trust in high tension situations.
- Experience as an advocate and managing collective agreement negotiations in the Public and Private sectors.
