Chief Advisor, Strategic Finance (12 Month Fixed Term)
Strategy, Governance, and Engagement Group
Within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC), the Strategy, Governance, and Engagement Group (SGE) provides the backbone and glue to support DPMC to achieve its strategic priorities and manage risk. It is a lean team that flexes as needed to deliver SGE's two primary functions: One focused on the direction and development of DPMC and the second focused on providing services to the organisation and key stakeholders.

This role has been established to increase the strategic finance capability of DPMC.
**The Chief Advisor, Strategic Finance will**:

- be the key source of trusted advice to the DPMC Chief Executive and DPMC Executive Leadership Team (ELT) on financial strategy, investment management, and strategic resource allocation, connecting the finance and strategy domains in response to the SBR,
- support the development of and initial strategic finance analysis in advance of any longer-term changes being made (should they be needed), and
- lead the department's relationship with the Central Agency Shared Service (CASS) in the period following the SBR as we work to implement any changes to reposition and/or strengthen DPMC.

The role comes with a competitive total remuneration package in the range of $195,000 - $225,000 p/a (including Kiwi Saver contributions). Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
About you | Ko wai koe
To be successful in the role you will be able to demonstrate capabilities in the following areas:

- Experience in public sector financial management including Budget processes.
- Proven success in a strategic financial management role at a senior level.
- Understanding of the interrelationship between strategy, business planning and financial management and what good looks like.
- A breadth and depth of financial (strategic) planning, systems, budgeting and management reporting.
- Ability to collate, analyse and present data in ways that support informed decision making.
- Proven customer and stakeholder relationship management skills.
- Highly effective planning and organisational skills, including time management and prioritising work in a complex work environment.
- Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, with the ability to think analytically and strategically about issues and express ideas clearly and conceptually.
- A high level of judgment and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to establish oneself as an authoritative, trusted independent adviser.
- Shows the drive and resilience to lead proactively and deliver sustainable high performance.
- Understanding of tikanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
