**The details**:Permanent - 80 hours per fortnight - Night Shift

**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join the Crisis Assessment and Home Treatment (CAHT). This position is based in the Emergency Department of Waikato Hospital on night shift.
- The role of the RN is to provide mental health assessment for individuals who present in mental health crisis and to support the individual to access the appropriate care pathway. These pathways include referral back to primary services, short term crisis team care, home treatment, admission to community based alternative acute care options or inpatient services.

**Key responsibilities of the role**:

- Accept referrals for individuals requiring mental health crisis assessment, including completion of mental health & risk assessment and clinical documentation.
- Liaison and direct work alongside ED and MH colleagues regarding the most appropriate treatment pathway.
- Administration of Mental Health Act activities, including the function of Duly Authorised Officer (DAO).
- Utilise technology for communication and documenting clinical information.
- Practice with cultural competence to improve health outcomes for Maori, alongside kaitakawaenga and rongoa Maori therapy.
- Practice with autonomy as part of a multidisciplinary health care team.

**Mōu | About you**
- Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:

- Demonstrated Mental Health clinical experience to a proficient / expert level
- Acute mental health experience is essential. Community mental health experience would be an asset
- Possess the mental agility to work in a busy and dynamic environment
- Competent ability to utilise technology, including entering and accessing electronic clinical records
- Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Annual practicing certificate that includes Mental Health scope
- Current full New Zealand drivers licence
