EMHR (Earlier Mental Health Response Team) is a 24/7 mental health triage service having many differing contracts with differing Te Whatu Ora localities across the motu along with Police and Ambulance Services.

You will be welcomed into a dynamic and specialist team, where you will receive access to paid external monthly supervision.

All the necessary IT equipment is provided to enable you to deliver your mental health triage expertise across New Zealand.

Although you may be working from wherever you are in New Zealand you are not alone You will be welcomed to a team of 40 dedicated and experienced Mental Health Clinicians all with the same goals and focus to offer immediate mental health tele triage-support to our community.

**Mō tēnei tūranga** - About the role

This is a permanent position; we will consider both full time and part time.

This is an exciting role where no two calls are the same You will be triaging incoming calls using the UK Triage tool, gathering and providing mental health information and advice to service users, where deemed clinically necessary you will also be liaising with stakeholders such as local crisis teams and Police and Ambulance to ensure that emergency mental health support gets to the right person at the right time.

**More specifically your role will involve**:

- Putting the Service Users needs first and respecting their confidentiality and privacy
- Working closely with stakeholders like DHBs, Police and Ambulance
- Following our clinical guidelines and using clinical support software
- Giving advice that respects cultural needs and demonstrates cultural awareness
- Escalating issues and referring calls to other staff or health service providers where required
- Experience in undertaking risk assessments, MSE and formulating safe, clear risk management plans based on collaboration with the client

**Qualifications**:
**Mōu ake** - About you

**Ōu wheako ōu mātauranga hoki**:

- Qualifications and experience
- Registered professional with current NZ practicing certificate ideally with a post graduate certificate with no limitations in working in mental health
- Minimum 3 years experience working in an Acute Mental Health setting i.e., Crisis team, liaison Psychiatry, In-patient Mental Health or Triage team
- Experience of delivering mental health triage and communicating plans
- Experience in undertaking risk assessments and formulating safe, clear risk management plans based on collaboration with the client

**Ōu āheitanga ōu pūkenga hoki** - Skills and competence
- Able to build rapport with callers and deliver a recovery orientated, person centred approach to working with people in distress
- Utilises collaborative support planning and promotion of the caller living as autonomously as possible in the community
- Sound clinical judgement in the assessment and management of suicide and other risk
- Experience in the use of recognised therapeutic models and intervention strategies
- Ability to effectively deliver triage, assessment, and interventions, create support plans, provide referrals and follow up via the telephone
- Ability to effectively navigate the health sector and complete referrals to DHB, NGO and Primary Care services
