In our wider Transport Unit we each play an imperative role in the moving parts of our city, which includes planning, maintenance, operations and capital delivery. Our roading network is used to get to work, school and play so it's important that we constantly revaluate and streamline this due to our ever-changing needs.

**About the role**:
In the role of Senior Transportation Engineer within the Traffic Operations Team, you will have a good mix of responsibilities and utilise your key expertise to evaluate and advise on best practice.
- You will be working on key focus areas such as road safety, programme development and delivery of capital projects.
- From analysing data, you'll implement safety interventions and conduct investigations using those results to optimise an action plan.
- You will be a key point of contact and liaise with external stakeholders such as Waka Kotahi NZTA and internal Units.
- You'll need to have confidence in your abilities as you'll be tasked with communicating and recommending outcomes to community boards and Council, to assist them in their decision making, ensuring the best outcome in terms of road safety.
- You'll be approachable and professional and make a significant contribution to the learning and development of others in the Traffic Operations Team including mentoring and providing technical guidance.

**About you**:
We are looking for a proven professional who is results driven and outcomes focused. Ideally you will have:

- A relevant degree qualification in Civil Engineering or Planning or significant traffic engineering experience.
- Level 1 STMS
- Relevant post-graduate transportation engineering experience of at least ten years.
- Demonstrated experience in safety audits, transport scheme designs, safe systems and project delivery.

- Hours of work_ - 37.5 - 40 hours per week
- Location_ - This position is primarily based at Te Hononga, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices - 53 Hereford Street_
