Auckland City, New Zealand Financial Markets Authority Full time

We're looking to create something special. In fact, we believe our approach to regulating financial markets will be a world first.

We have an expanding remit and an exciting focus. We're looking to achieve great things, and we need more great people on board. You'll be helping New Zealanders to have belief in our financial sector as a strong foundation for their financial future.

This is your opportunity to make a fresh start and see the impact we're making right across the sector. With us, you'll gain a unique perspective with the ability to influence positive change through outcome focused regulation.

**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**

Our Chief Economist who heads up our Economics and Data group is looking for two talented leaders to join his team to help make the FMA's vision a reality. Through the development and integration of well executed research and advanced analytics, intelligence will be developed that informs everything we do.

One of the newly created leadership roles is **Head of Economics and Research** which will work across the FMA to increase organisational understanding and use of economic frameworks, methods and analysis.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

You'll bring both deep and strategic-level expertise in interpreting economic data, identifying trends and conducting research to understand the implications for financial markets. Ideally you will also have proven experience in the design and execution of randomised control trials and possess knowledge of insights methodologies, particularly surveys.

You will also be an experienced and engaging people leader with a natural tendency towards collaboration, coaching and mentoring others, with the drive to lead others to thrive. Your direct reports are Managers, who have teams reporting to them.

**Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer**

At the FMA, you'll be proud knowing that the work you do is creating a legacy for New Zealand. You'll be joining a supportive team culture working with people who love what they do, nurturing your growth mindset with our top-notch learning and development offering and connections on a local and global scale.

A strong emphasis is placed on enabling you to be at your best in every aspect of your life, with a hybrid work arrangement (3 days in the office for full-time employees, flexibility to work from home for the remainder), with additional annual leave days, an ability to swap public holiday leave with other days that mean more to you, generous parental leave provisions and a variety of regular wellness initiatives and activities.

This role can be based at either our Auckland or Wellington CBD offices.

**A great place to work. With great work to do.**
