**Tēnei tūranga - About the Role**:
MBIE has several building emergency management responsibilities under the Building Act 2004 - from the initial response right through to recovery. MBIE may play a significant coordination role at a national level if an event occurs and there is also damage to buildings and infrastructure.
We are looking for a Building Emergency Management Manager to provide leadership and help develop, implement and deliver appropriate learning and development for the rapid building assessment system across Aotearoa New Zealand.
**This includes ensuring that**:
- rapid building assessors are appropriately trained and component
- there is an appropriate number of trained rapid building assessors in the right locations on the MBIE register
- trained rapid building assessors are available and prepared for deployment during events
- guidance and information collateral are maintained and well communicated
- there is regular internal learning and development on building management in emergencies and building system teams maintain a level of readiness.
This is a new position and will be an exciting and unique opportunity for a suitably experienced person
Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and experience required:
We are looking for someone with experience in one or more of the following:
- learning and development techniques such as instructional design, facilitation, collateral/content creation and understanding of best practice and execution of training or
- extensive knowledge of emergency responses and Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS) is preferred however relevant knowledge and experience will be considered
- rapid building assessments or a practical understanding of how building consent authorities operate.
While this position doesn’t have direct reports, resourcing will be allocated to support with the content/ collateral creation for the training programme and there will be budget allocation for the training programme and external consultancy inputs.

Our team sits in the Building System Performance branch in MBIE. We have core responsibilities to lead the implementation and education of changes to New Zealand's building regulatory system.

Our team typically work from home 2-3 days a week and you will be able to do this. Our teams also work across different geographical locations including Wellington and Christchurch.
As this position will be leading the delivery of a national training programme, you will need to be able to travel to the in-person training days.
