**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The Head of Privacy, sitting in the Office of the Chief Executive, ensures continued expert privacy advisory and support services are provided across Te Whatu Ora. Given our scale and what we do, we collect and hold a significant amount of personal information, so it's essential to trust and confidence that we have privacy settings, systems and processes that are effective and high integrity.

The function works across Te Whatu Ora, requiring exceptional relationship and influencing skills, and the ability to design and use tools and levers to effect positive results and change across a complex, distributed organisation. This includes bringing insights to further improve prevention of privacy issues, building a culture of privacy-by-design across the organisation, and monitoring and managing breaches, including to quickly identify and embed learnings when breaches occur.

As a strong and influential leader, you will build a privacy centre-of-excellence for Te Whatu Ora; a single function is just established ready for your leadership to fully integrate the team and take performance to another level. Your ability to further extend our relationships with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, GCPO and other agencies will also be important.

**Mōu | About you**

You are seasoned leader, with significant experience focusing on information privacy and a well-developed understanding of the privacy environment, particularly within the public sector. The ability to engage and influence across all levels of the organisation and externally will be key to success, alongside your talent for coming to grips with complex issues. You can readily demonstrate your extensive experience in risk management, escalating issues where necessary and obtaining results within complex organisations and in challenging circumstances.

You will use your authenticity and commitment to public accountability to set the right style and tone for the team's approach. This will include a strong and demonstrated commitment to giving effect to Te Tiriti in our work, and to equity, diversity and inclusion.

**Ko te mahi e tika ana mō te ao hurihuri nei |Work that suits today's ever-changing world**

Te Whatu Ora supports flexible and hybrid working for our kaimahi. In roles that don't require an in-person element, we encourage you to ‘work from where you are.' We want our national teams to be made up of diverse people from across the motu, just like our health system.

**Tō mātou whakahaere ki te tika, te rerekētanga, me te whai wāhi mai |Our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion**

Our name, Te Whatu Ora, means ‘the weaving of wellness'. Whatu is the combining together of people, resources, organisations, thoughts and actions for the betterment and wellbeing of all. Whatu is also a direct reference to the pupil of the eye, and the vision required of the new entity and system.

At Te Whatu Ora we acknowledge and respect our people's diversity and spiritual needs, ensuring a safe workplace that is a whānau orientated and supportive environment. We are working towards a system that better meets the complex demands of a growing population, addresses the persistent inequalities experienced by Māori and ensures greater access, experience and outcomes for those traditionally not well served by the system - Māori, Pacific and Disabled People.
