**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**POSITION TITLE**

Venue Manager - El Barrio

**OBJECTIVE OF POSITION**

To effect the overall smooth and efficient operation of the business with the primary focus of fostering an on-going positive working relationship with the customer base, staff and suppliers.

To maximise sales volumes and profitability.

To train and manage an effective team of staff.

**REPORT TO**

Owners, Head of Hospitality, Operations & Growth Manager, Systems Manager, Chief Financial Officer

**RESPONSIBLE FOR**

Assistant Manager, Duty Managers, Bartenders, Kitchen Staff, Security, Events Manager, Restaurant Manager

**RELATIONSHIP WITH**

As above, and Customers, Suppliers, Local Authorities, Bands, DJ’s, Artists and Community stakeholders

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Role Specific**
- Place all supply orders in conjecture with budgets/targets - assisted by the Day Manager
- Enter and analyse stock take - assisted by the Systems Manager.
- Ensure POS system is kept current & accurate. This includes receiving stock into the system, adding/removing/updating products, and liaising with POS company for any queries and improvements. Ensuring staff are using POS system correctly. Assisted by the Systems Manager.
- Be the direct link to suppliers/repairs/DJ’s, security. This includes liaising with reps.
- Liaise and implement marketing initiatives in conjunction with Marketing & Development.
- Compile rosters within budgets/targets.
- Set acceptable bar standards to be adhered to by all. This includes ensuring the bar area and behind the bar are kept clean and tidy at all times and in accordance these specified standards
- Staff management - includes employing staff (in conjunction with Operations & HR), and all staff training & development. This includes building a _sales focused culture_ _within the team of staff. Setting goals and incentives with Duty Managers and other staff as appropriate.
- Utilise and maintain the operations systems, which includes all staff rotas, leave approvals, incident registers, staff details, events and bookings and other notes.
- Facilitate the booking of functions.
- Building and maintaining corporate client relationships.
- Update food and drinks menus as needed, in liaison with the kitchen.
- Ensure that all customers receive a high standard of service and feel they have walked into a warm and welcoming venue-maintain this by monitoring key features of ambience (lighting and music).
- Tracking & managing KPI data on a regular basis, as decided in conjunction with the owners.
- Participating in constructive monthly growth meetings with other Site Managers and leading learning activities, as well as weekly Management Communication and Planning Strategy sessions.

**Role Generic**
- Comply with the Sale of Liquor Act 1989 and amendments, Smoke Free Environments Amendment Act 2003 and the Gambling Act 2003.
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the premises liquor and gaming licence/s.
- Ensure all staff are aware of their obligations pursuant to the Sale of Liquor Act 2013 and the company’s liquor licence is not jeopardised—this includes patron conduct and intoxication.
- Ensure all funds and proceeds belonging to the business are accounted for, secured and locked in the safe before leaving the premises.
- Ensure productivity from staff members on all shifts and maintain a positive working environment throughout.
- Ensure all equipment is kept clean and tidy and in good working condition.
- Update daily records as necessary.
- Ensure the security alarm is activated and functioning before leaving the premises.
- Ensure the premises is a safe environment for all patrons and staff, and complies with OSH requirements at all times.
- Participate as a constructive member of the management team with the view to maximising business sales volumes and profitability.
- Complete other general and duty management duties in liaison with the Owners from time to time.
