**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
As a Data Scientist, your primary purpose will be to develop and deliver data science driven outcomes for clinical and operational customers. Using essential computer science, maths, statistics, health domain knowledge and people skills you will use AI/machine learning to innovate current healthcare operations.
On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for scoping data science projects, managing customer expectations around progress, requirements and risks. You will also take on a leadership responsibility which will allow you to be involved in the implementation of regional plans and frameworks, for adoption and use of advanced analytics, and will see you promoting and guiding the organisation's understanding of the potential for artificial intelligence to improve health and health services.
This role will see you liaising with stakeholders across the organisation, including clinicians, health teams and other Data Scientists and Health Analysts and using these relationships to effectively optimize analytical solutions
In this fixed term contract role you will be required to be living in the Te Manawa Taki region, or be willing to relocate.
**Mōu | About you**
You will be an experienced Data Scientist or Senior Analyst with a background or interest in health sector data, who understands how data can transform patient outcomes and healthcare processes.
Your strong statistical and machine learning skills, coupled with experience in predictive modeling, data mining, and deep learning techniques, will be crucial. You should have demonstrated abilities in tackling complex data challenges, from data cleaning to model development and deployment, ensuring actionable insights.
**Ka kawea e koe | You will bring**:
- A Mathematics/statistics qualification and/or computer science qualification
- Experience for a minimum of 3 years, as a data scientist/ senior analyst
- A record of excellence in AI/ML development and deployment, data modelling, problem-solving, communication and presentation
- Experience/ advanced skills with Python, R and SQL
- Experience in other visualisation or data scientist tools: SSRS, Power BI, Jupyter Notebook or Spark
- Previous responsibility for developing, maintaining and influencing relationships and partnerships, including Māori and Pacific Peoples groups.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth Mandatory
