**Te kāinga rua | The opportunity**

Build your career delivering transformational environmental projects with a focus on land and groundwater contamination as well construction environmental risk management, while learning from leading technical environmental, sustainability and related experts. This role will enable you to take the next step in your career, building your technical understanding, working with clients, and leading projects that shape our communities and environment.

You will play a key role in our national Environmental and Sustainability Advisory team where you will be delivering projects across the North Island, and further afield. You will be joining a team known for our ability to provide high quality environmental consulting advice to a diverse range of clients such as the Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, Kāinga Ora, energy providers, large industry organisations and district and regional councils.

You will have plenty of scope for success in this role, with significant career development opportunities. We will provide you with challenging and complex projects and the chance to build relationships with clients and provide opportunities to learn from industry leaders and work in a nationwide environmental and sustainability practice. In this role you will be part of a broad team of experts in our Community Shaping business including, ecologists, sustainability professionals, designers, and planners delivering projects for clients and the wider business.

**Ko wai koe | About you**

You will have a relevant tertiary qualification in an environmental discipline. While this position requires technical skills in a broad range of environmental science related disciplines, you will have expertise in contaminated land aspects of environmental science, water quality, construction related environmental risk management and/or assessments of environmental effects. Our preference is for this role to be based ideally in Tauranga, or Hamilton.
- Field experience that includes contaminated land and groundwater investigations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, displayed by your ability to work with colleagues, clients, and contractors
- A high level of written skills, including a demonstrated ability to undertake scientific investigations, analysis, and reporting
- Experience working with emerging contaminants and / or asbestos in soils is desirable, however not essential
- Strong understanding and focus on health and safety
- Working knowledge of the Resource Management Act (RMA), NES (Contamination) and an understanding of resource consent processes
