Telecommunication Technician

JOB TITLE**:Telecommunications Technician**

REPORTS TO**:Project Manager / Team Lead**

**WORK LOCATION**:All the Cities in South Island and North Island (CHC/Auck)

**Annual Salary: Annual Salary: NZD 46,800.00 (Hourly Rate: NZD 30.00 to NZD 31.00)**

**Monday to Friday: Minimum 30 Hours per Week**

**Position Purpose**:Perform Telecom / IT-related activities, SW upgrades of Network devices including Layer-3 devices like Router and switches, providing the Fibre installations & guidlines as per industry standards, CPE equipment installations & configuration, Network devices like Router/Switch installations & configurations and remote management, Data centre design, cable installations, CCTV camera installations, Data cabling, etc.

**Main tasks**:Core objectives include:

- Telecom Fibre cable & equipment installations, testings, troubleshooting & maintenance

.Guidlines for Telecom Fibre cable & equipment installations, testings, troubleshooting & maintenance
- FTTx Network design using Arc GIS tool and maintain the associated as built for Fiber infrastructure and network inventory records for CO's
- CPE equipment installation, configuration, troubleshooting & maintenance
- Remote Support to field staff for CPE equipment installation, configuration, troubleshooting & maintenance
- Data centre design, Asbuilt, Data Cable installations, troubleshooting & maintenance
- IT Network installations, configuration, troubleshooting & maintenance
- Remote Support for configuration, SW upgrades and managment of network devices (Router/Switches) of vendor Cisco, Nokia and Juniper.

**Other Duties**:Additional duties include:

- Telecom Network Design
- Domain hosting and maintaining active directory records for customers.
- As-built design preparations and submissions
- IT Network Design
- Fulfil other related tasks as requested by management or other department personnel.

**Network devices Health Check, Performance Monitoring, Software Upgrade of IT Equipment like Routers, Switches, Laptops, PCs, Mobile, configuration and Troubleshooting with capabilities of performing the task as remote support,**

**Qualifications: Engineering background / Diploma / Bachelor Degree**
- WTC1, WTC2, WTC3 & WTC4 trainings and certifications or similar trainings or willing to do such trainings
- Traffic Management i.e. L1TC & STMS1 or similar trainings or willing to do such trainings
- First Aid
- Valid Full Driving License (Negotiable)
- Network Know How, aswaness and trainings on CHORUS Build and Connect Network, if already worked on CHORUS network or similar like trainings
- Level 4 and above education with experience of minimum 10 years, or Level 5 / Level 6 education with 6 years of experience or Level 7 education with 5 years of experience

OR

Bachelor of Engineering (NZQF Level 7)

**Experience**:
**. **4-5 Years’ Experience in Chorus network or Similar FTTx network anywhere

.Ability to manager projects as Team Lead, manage work and diversified teams
- Ability to write the SOP's of Fibre cables installation, surface mount, underground and aerial etc.
- Ability to use efficiently Fibre blowing and Splicing machines
- Ability to install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain the CPE, SWITCH and Routers
- Ability to troubleshoot IT Network equipment and have good understanding of network standard design and infrastructure including all types of cables (Copper/Fibre)
- Have been working on CHORUS Network as TL is preferred or having similar experience as team lead

**Skills & competencies**:

- Hand on experiance of network equipment installation, configuring and maintenance for devices like Router/Switches.
- Fibre Splicing with Fusion splicer machines & Blowing fibre with Hexatronic Blowing gun. Fibre Testing with OTDR, VFL etc
- Design, documentation, and installations of fibre and structural cables for data centres
