**Āu Mahi | What You Will Do**
Applications are invited for a full time, permanent position at Pūkenga | Lecturer or Pūkenga Matua l Senior Lecturer level within the Te Kaupeka Oranga | Faculty of Health. This is an exciting opportunity for an emerging or experienced academic scholar to make a significant contribution to research and teaching at Te Whare Wananga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury (UC). The successful applicant will provide significant contributions to teaching and the delivery of academic courses and programmes, engage in the full range of research activities, including postgraduate supervision, and undertake academic leadership and service duties within the programmes, Faculty and University. In particular, the successful applicant will join our Health and Sports Teams teaching into our Bachelor of Health Sciences, Bachelor in Sport, Master of Health and Masters of Sport Science programmes. Research and teaching expertise will include at least one of the following areas: physical activity, wellbeing, nutrition, community focused health services, epidemiology, population health in the areas of nutrition, diverse populations and/or addressing inequalities health.
**Mōu | Who You Are**
Applicants will need to demonstrate the following characteristics:
- hold a doctoral degree in Health / Sport or other relevant discipline
- relevant and effective tertiary teaching experience in their specialist area(s). Willingness and ability to both develop and lead undergraduate and postgraduate courses and contribute to teaching of other courses/majors physical activity and wellbeing area, as well as population nutrition and/or epidemiology.
- competency and confidence in bicultural practice, including a commitment to upholding the values, tikanga, kawa and traditions as guided by Ngāi Tūāhuriri, the mana whenua. Ability in te reo Māori me āna tikanga would be an advantage.
- at the senior lecturer level should have a record of successful supervision of research students.
- an appropriate research publication history, and plans for future research, grant funding and publication and consistent with appointment at Pūkenga | Lecturer or Pūkenga Matua | Senior Lecturer rank.
The successful applicant will have opportunities for national and international conference travel to support their research and teaching activities and will have the opportunity to network with international leaders their field through the University's unique Erskine and Canterbury Fellowship Schemes (which enables the University to host world leading academics) and through the University's academic staff exchange programmes with Oxford and Cambridge Universities in the UK.
