An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Engagement and Communications Advisor to join MBIE's Engagement, Communications and Ministerial Services Branch.

In this role you will be part of the Labour, Science and Enterprise Engagement and Communications team which supports a wide range of areas including Economic Development, Tourism, Regionals Skills Leadership Groups, Workplace Relations and Safety, Research, Science and Innovation, and the New Zealand Space Agency.

The successful Senior Cmmunications Advisor will help support MBIE’s work to grow the space and aerospace sectors, including our NZ Space Agency social presence, and outreach programmes that aim to inspire careers in space, plus supporting policy developments.

We are looking for a strong storyteller who is comfortable seeking out stories and developing proactive content/identifying opportunities to build positive engagement around space and aerospace activities in NZ.

- Story telling - able to write and craft engaging and meaningful content for a range of different audiences, including video
- Media management - able to identify great media opportunities and nurture relationships with key media
- Social media - experience managing social media accounts
- Relationships - Able to build strong networks with senior managers across MBIE and Ministers’ offices, as well as our staff and key internal and external stakeholders
- Knowledge of government decision-making and operating procedures.
- Proactive, positive, able to bring great ideas to the table, have sound judgement and discretion
- Able to juggle and work at pace - managing competing priorities in a way that makes all our customers feel like they are well supported to succeed with our help.

Ideally you will have at least five years’ experience in creating and delivering internal and external communications strategies and supporting material.
