**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

**We have the opportunity available to join the Health Protection team in an exciting new role as a Regional Communicable Diseases Development and Delivery Lead**.

This role will provide leadership to the various health protection programmes of work regionally. Key focus areas will include screening, immunisation and surveillance. This role will also be expected to establish close working relationships with emergency management and intelligence.

Working under the leadership the Kaitātaki Health Protection with the Professional leaders and clinical partners will be accountable for developing regional programmes of work and supporting the development and continuous improvement of implementation frameworks. Working regionally with the various networks will be critical to ensuring a consistent approach to the relevant programmes of communicable diseases within health protection.

You will be a strong leader with experience in programme and project development, cross-sector working and ability to influence to achieve outcomes. You are able to lead change, innovation, capability development and quality improvement across a service and use sound judgement to develop options and provide advice.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- A Bachelors qualification or equivalent experience and experience in machinery of government
- 5+ years' experience in programme or project development
- Demonstrated broad protection/prevention or public health experience is highly desired
- Experience in matrix and multidisciplinary working models
- Experience in working with iwi/ hapū and Māori communities
- Understanding and experience working in partnerships with Pacific communities
