Nourishing Hawkes Bay: He wairua t te kai focuses on improving the wellbeing of children in the region, recognising the link between nutrition and overall wellbeing, including mental, physical and oral health. Currently there is a gap between our efforts and aspirations for the wellbeing of our tamariki. Student health and wellbeing surveys will assess food security, nutritional behaviours and wellbeing measures of students in Hawkes Bay.

We are looking for reliable and passionate research assistants to travel to enrolled schools and assist students to complete the online student wellbeing survey and complete student physical assessments (height and weight) according to study protocol.

This is a Casual position which means that there are no fixed hours. During assessment timeframes there could be up to 20 hours work available per week working in consultation with others in the research team.

You will work closely with the project manager and the project researchers to complete the following tasks:

- Liaise with the project team to assist with consent procedures & surveys/assessments according to the study protocol
- Assist with set-up and clean-up of classrooms, and transport of study equipment
- Ensure all devices are charged for the next school visit and that all equipment is accounted for according to equipment register
- Be a point of contact between NHB and schools if required
- Coordinate and support other research assistants on the project where required
- Maintain project files/spread sheets on shared database, shared calendars etc. where required
- Accurate and timely entry of data into research database
- Treat participants in a caring and professional manner and maintain student/participant confidentially and privacy at all times
- Complete all training as required and provide ongoing support to the research team

Hourly rate is $25 per hour plus 8% holiday pay.

You will be surrounded by a positive and supportive team based at the EIT sports park in Hastings. It is anticipated there be will 3-4 Research Assistants available to support the project. Full training will be provided along with regular catch-ups with the team.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with students, has excellent organisation, communication, and time management skills.

You will also need an eye for detail and be computer literate enough to be able to use apps and other databases to input data and record notes. It is important that you can accurately take notes and manage data. It is also essential that you hold a full clean Driving Licence so you can get out and about in the community.
